Affiliate Disclosure
Flavor Index Lab is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase — at no extra cost to you.
How It Works
When I link to a product on Amazon or another retailer, that link often includes an affiliate tracking code. If you buy something through that link, I earn a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use my link or go directly to the retailer.
What This Means for My Reviews
Nothing. My scores, tier assignments, and evaluations are never influenced by affiliate relationships. Here’s why you can trust that:
- I buy the products I review. Every product tested on Flavor Index Lab was purchased with my own money at retail price. I don’t accept free products in exchange for reviews.
- Scores come before links. I complete my evaluation, assign a tier, and write the review before adding any affiliate links. The link goes on the review — the review doesn’t change because of the link.
- I recommend against products too. If a product earns a SKIP tier, I still publish the review. I’d rather you save your money than earn a commission on something I wouldn’t buy myself.
- SKIP-tier products still get affiliate links. That might seem contradictory, but here’s the logic: if you read my review, disagree with my assessment, and still want to buy the product, the affiliate link is there for your convenience. It doesn’t change my evaluation.
Affiliate Programs I Participate In
Flavor Index Lab is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
I may join additional affiliate programs over time. If I do, they’ll follow the same principle: I buy the product, I test it honestly, and the affiliate relationship has no influence on my evaluation.
Identifying Affiliate Links
Every article on Flavor Index Lab that contains affiliate links includes a disclosure statement at the top of the page. The standard disclosure reads:
This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. My scores are never influenced by this.
